Mary Warren
Marry Warren is the servant girl for John Proctor. She is one of the girls who was caught dancing in the woods with Abigail. When Abigail tried to threaten her to not tell anyone about what happened on the night they danced in the woods she looked like she was about to go on Abigail because if what they did. She knows that what she did was wrong and apparently she feels bad about it. She wants to tell an adult about what Abigail did (drink blood in order to kill Elizabeth Proctor and steal John Proctor for her own) but the amount of fear that Abigail gives her is just too much. Her fear is that she'll get into even more trouble for not saying anything, however she also is afraid of Abigail because her crazy attitude.
Says: "Abby, we've got to tell. Witchery's a hangin' error, a hangin' like they done in Boston two years ago! We must tell the truth, Abby! You'll only be whipped for dancin', and the other things!" (18)

Marry Warren feels scared about what she did in the forest. She is scared that she is going to get caught and then hanged for what they did. Mary Warren doesn't seem to be as vicious as Abigail is rather she's is just worried about the mistake she has made and regrets them dearly. She wants to find a way out, she is panicking in the process, and can't find a safe haven in the village.

Thoughts:

Effects on others: "Mercy moving toward Mary: oh you're a great one for lookin', aren't you, Mary Warren? What a grand peeping courage you have!" (18)
She is worrying too much for some of the girls. They probably feel that she is going to be more of a problem rather than an asset. This also shows that she is in danger because of the other girls. They are just as worried but they don't seem to be panicking as much as she is.
Actions: "With hysterical fright: What's got her?" (19)
Marry Warren is extremely worried because it seems like so much is happening so fast. First Mr. Parris surprises her from inside of the bushes when they were dancing in the forest then the village is talking about which craft and now Betty is starting to speak when she's supposed to be dead. She is sort of spiraling out of control.
Looks: "Enter Mary Warren, breathless. She is seventeen, a subservient, naive, lonely girl." (17)
She is very obedient and can fall for anything...i guess that's how Abigail got her to dance in the forest and do witchcraft with her.
